Support for RIPMED Algorithm

Jun 27, 2012 16:16

Hi everybody,

I wasn't able to enter a new ticket... anyway, I was wondering whether there's a plan for supporting the RIPMED128 and RIPMED160 hash functions or not.
That would be a nice feature to add on.

Thanks & regards

Who actually uses RIPEMD hashes? I've never seen them called for in any specifications I've worked on...

Well, I'm currently working on a specification about flashable ECUS with security class C and CCC for which an RSA signature algorithm using RIPEMD 160 is required.

Never mind, I added RIPEMD160 myself

Well done!

That's cool as well.

Contact me if you are interested in having it included in the core code.

Support for RIPEMD-160 would be a nice enhancement.

It would be very useful for people working on Bitcoin related projects e.g. picocoin

The same goes for ECDSA secp256k1, which is also used by Bitcoin.

Both RIPEMD-160 and the Koblitz curves have been added to the development branch on github.

Will be included in the release 1.3.4 that will show up after the weekend!
