Any plans for TLS 1.3 support?

Jun 15, 2016 11:26

I want to know if there are any plans for TLS 1.3 support in the near future?

Thank you in advance, Miao

We do have plans to support TLS 1.3.

We don't have dates or a schedule we can share at this point.

Is there more information available at this time?

Do you have an update regarding support of TLS 1.3?

To build on what Paul has already said, we don't publicly publish roadmaps for mbed TLS, so making a statement about when we would ship with TLS 1.3 support is not something we'd do.

What I can say though is the TLS 1.3 standard is still in development by the IETF, and still has some way to go before it is published, and as Paul has already said, we do plan on supporting it.

I know you don't release roadmap items and I understand the IETF has yet to finalize the draft but...

There are multiple releases out for TLSv1.3 from draft 18 - 23, google chrome and cloud flare are actively supporting draft 22 and/or 23 at the moment. Why is mbed TLS so far behind? Several of these companies are on the bleeding edge of supporting TLS 1.3, why not mbedtls?

Just because we haven't made anything available yet, doesn't mean we're not working on it!

We have a team working on TLS1.3 and I'm afraid that's all I can say. We're not yet in a position to say when that will be available, but just because nothing is public, please don't assume nothing is happening!
