Hybrid encryption schemes?

Apr 23, 2017 00:19

I'm wondering if mbedtls has any hybrid encryption schemes built-in? By hybrid encryption, I mean the schemes that encrypt a long message under a public key, by encrypting a random key first then using that key and a block cipher to encrypt the actually message. One example is ECIES.

Thanks a lot, Fan

Hi Fan,
You can achieve this by using ECDH key exchange scheme for exchanging a symmetric key, to be used for ciphering your message, such as with AES.
I hope this helps
